What You Get With a VPS

A VPS is your own server. You get root access, your own operating system and the freedom to install and configure whatever you like — which is exactly what shared hosting cannot give you, and usually the reason people move here.

These plans run on Vultr's cloud compute platform with SSD storage and shared processor cores. Shared cores are what keep the price sensible, and for the great majority of workloads they are entirely sufficient. If you need the performance never to vary with what other customers are doing, our Optimized Cloud range has dedicated vCPU instead.

Servers are built automatically and reachable within minutes of checkout, and moving up a plan later adds CPU, memory or disk to the machine you already have rather than starting a new one. Billing is monthly at the price shown.

Choose, Configure and Buy

1 Choose your server plan

2 Choose your OS & datacenter location

Operating system What this is What your server runs. If you are unsure, an Ubuntu LTS release is the usual choice — it has the longest support window and the most tutorials written for it. Debian is leaner and very stable; AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux suit anyone used to CentOS. Control panels & apps arrive installed and ready to configure. They bring their own base system, so you do not choose one separately. You can reinstall a different system later from Manage VPS, but that erases the disk.

Datacenter location Pick the one nearest your visitors This is the physical building your server runs in. The closer it is to the people using your site, the faster it feels for them — your own location matters far less than theirs. A server cannot be moved between locations after it is built. Changing it later means starting a new server from scratch, so choose with your audience in mind. 30 locations are available for this plan. Most cost the same; any that cost more show the difference on the option itself.

Why Choose Us?

The Machine Answers To You

Full root access means you install and tune what you need, rather than working around a shared configuration set for everybody else.

Ready In Minutes

Servers are provisioned automatically, so the gap between ordering and having something to log into is minutes rather than a queue.

Resize Without Rebuilding

More CPU, memory or disk is a resize on the same server, not a fresh build you then have to migrate onto.

What does full root access actually let me do?

Install whatever software you need, change system configuration, and run services that shared hosting does not permit. The machine is yours to configure rather than one you are a tenant on.

How quickly will my server be ready?

Minutes. Provisioning is automated rather than queued for someone to build by hand, so the server exists and is reachable shortly after the order completes.

Can I change plan later without rebuilding?

Yes. Moving up adds CPU, memory or disk to the server you already have, so your setup stays as it is instead of needing to be recreated somewhere new.
